Becky Trout Fryxell

Dr. Trout Fryxell is a Professor of Medical and Veterinary Entomology. She is responsible for overall program management, including coordinating the efforts of the monthly meetings, managing notes, and updating maps.

She also leads the University of Tennessee Medical and Veterinary Entomology Team. As a medical and veterinary entomologist, her research program integrates vector management and control, describes vector life histories, delineates risk factors for pathogen and vectors, and characterizes vector populations using genetics (microbial, population, and landscape).

Katy Smith

Katy is a Veterinary Entomology Education Specialist and a PhD candidate in the Department of Entomology and Plant Pathology at the University of Tennessee. Her dissertation focuses on developing and evaluating sustainable methods for beef producers to make data-driven pest management decisions. Katy helps run the monthly stakeholder meetings and provides educational content to the public regarding livestock pests.

Jennifer Chandler

Jennifer is the Safety and Research Coordinator for the Department of Entomology and Plant Pathology at the University of Tennessee. For this project, she helps coordinate the large datasets associated with the vectors and vector-borne diseases.

Gwyneth McClelland

Gwyn is an undergraduate student majoring in Geographic Information Science and Technology. For this project, she is a student assistant and helps manage large spatial datasets, including creating maps associated with each vector and vector-borne disease. After graduation, she hopes to continue using GIS to help strengthen and educate communities.
